
Nothing is more frustrating than to discover your vehicle has a dead battery. Fortunately, if you have a set of jumper cables, you can quickly get back on the road. Use the following steps to jump your vehicle's battery.
- Place the vehicles in a nose to nose position.
- Turn off both vehicles and set the parking brakes.
- Find the negative and positive terminals on both batteries.
- Attach the positive cable clamp to the dead battery positive post.
- The other end of the positive cable will attach to the positive post of the working battery.
- The negative end of the cable will now attach to the negative post of the working battery.
- Attach the other end of the negative cable to a metal block or bracket on the other vehicle.
- Start the engine of the working vehicle.
- Start the engine of the dead vehicle.
