Ford has called for the safety recall of nearly 1,300 vehicles with 3.5-liter GTDI engines to inspect and swap out leaking turbocharger oil supply tubes. Ford thinks the leaking turbocharger could result in the heightened risk of a fire, but the American car company is not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires linked with the issue.
However, it is a concern because engine oil spilling onto the turbocharger and surrounding components may increase the chance of causing a fire in the presence of an ignition source.
To be Safe, Ford is Recalling these Affected Vehicles:
- 2016 Ford Taurus vehicles built at Chicago Assembly Plant, Oct. 18, 2016, to Nov. 2, 2016
- 2016-17 Ford Flex vehicles built at Oakville Assembly Plant, Oct. 18, 2016 to Nov. 10, 2016
